I met Merel Vercammen at the classical encounters festival where we were asked to do an improvisation and as sometimes happens in the field of music, it was a match!

I came by another time to improvise together and to make a recording and almost missed the train in the process…👋🚂
But at least we have a (raw) recording to show for it!

In a free improvisation you don’t speak about anything before you start to play. Well, we cheated… We spoke a bit about how the form works in impro and we decided to consciously not stick to an ABA form, hence the name: NONABA. What we did, in the end, was actually what we agreed not to do which resulted in a “theme and variations” kind of structure. Anyhow, this experiment is not over yet!
